The National Gallery is looking for an Assistant Collection Registrar to join the Collection Registrars` team which has responsibility for project managing short and long loans out from the Collection to venues in the UK and abroad, long loans in to the Collection, temporary deposits and acquisitions.

The Assistant Collection Registrars` responsibilities include the administration of loan requests, provision of registrarial support in all areas of our work, maintenance of administrative systems and financial tracking. Some management of short term loans out, temporary deposits and other picture movements is also part of the role.

It is essential that you have some experience of working within a Registrars, exhibitions or similar team in a museum/gallery as well as some practical experience with office systems and financial data. Experience with Collection Management Systems and arranging loans and indemnity cover is also required.

You will have some knowledge of registration standards, collection management principles, organisation of loans, fine art transport and the UK Government Indemnity Scheme. You will have a high level of computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office products and experience of working with Collection Management databases.

You should be self-motivated with a meticulous and methodical approach to work. You will have the ability to plan effectively and take responsibility for your aspects of the loans programme. You will have excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills.

This is a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months.
